RENATO MARTINEZ was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1943. He moved to the U.S. in 1978 as a consequence of the 1973 coup d’état in his country. He studied at the University of Chile first and then at the University of California in San Diego, where he obtained a PhD in Literature. He is currently an instructor at the City College of Fresno, California. His poetry and critical articles can be found in numerous publications.
