LÝ LAN was born into a Sino-Vietnamese family in Binh Duong outside of Sái Gón in 1957 and moved to Chợ Lớn, a district of Ho Chi Minh City during the war and has lived there since. She has published numerous poems, short stories, essays, and novels, as well as translations of others’ work, including the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling.
