“Second Eden”

Thomas Hardy

The blood their parents gave them seems like original sin –
hugs and kisses, saliva or cuts might pull another child in.

They’re careful at the park, for carefulness will save them
from spending their inheritance, for blood their parents gave them;

but when they come to AIDS camp they play and wrestle and run;
no fear of giving infections until visitors come.
